VietGAP (Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices) is a set of national standards for Good Agricultural Practices in Vietnam, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and strictly applied to each product group across three spearhead sectors: Cultivation, Livestock, and Aquaculture.

To achieve certification, production facilities will be comprehensively evaluated based on 4 core criteria groups:

Production Techniques: Strictly controlling farming methods, harvesting, and seed standards (cultivation), breed standards (livestock), ensuring that soil and water sources meet safety standards.

Working Environment: The production environment must meet occupational safety standards to prevent labor exploitation and maximize the health protection of direct producers.

Food Safety: This is the central criterion when evaluating and granting VietGAP certification. Ensuring that food is free from contamination, antibiotic residues, or harmful preservatives, and only using plant protection drugs from the permitted list.

Traceability: Compliant products must implement traceability to ensure clear origin verification and transparent information delivered to customers.

Validity of the VietGAP Certificate

Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 17 of Circular No. 48/2012/TT-BNNPTNT, a VietGAP certificate is valid for a maximum of 02 (two) years from the date of issuance.

The VietGAP certificate may be extended for a maximum of 03 (three) months for production facilities that have been certified but do not register for recertification upon expiry.
