Cross-border e-commerce is unlocking new horizons for Vietnamese enterprises, particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). To harness this export channel effectively, businesses must develop synchronized capabilities spanning market intelligence, technology, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
On the morning of 8 October, the Vietnam Cross-Border E-commerce Forum (VOIEF 2026), organised by the Vietnam E-Commerce Association (VECOM) in collaboration with the Vietnam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and the Finance and Economic Television Channel (VITV), convened over 250 delegates from regulatory bodies, e-commerce platforms, enterprises, logistics providers, and export promotion organisations to deliberate on the evolving forces shaping the global journey of Vietnamese goods.
Ms. Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency (iDEA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, delivered an insightful opening address at the forum
At Session 2 of the programme, themed "Solutions to Promote Exports via Digital Platforms", Mr. To Manh Linh, Vice Marketing Director of Vinacontrol, joined industry leaders and experts in an in-depth discussion on current market realities, strategic opportunities, and practical solutions to help enterprises overcome technical barriers and thrive in the digital ecosystem.
From digital customs and amended customs laws to "Vietnam Go Global", AI, and digital platforms, discussions underscored a unified message: online exporting is no longer merely about listing products on a marketplace; rather, it demands the comprehensive building and scaling of digital export capabilities.
Enterprises must comprehensively master market intelligence, meet technical standards, build brand equity, and execute digital content strategies. Furthermore, they are required to optimize payment processing, logistics operations, brand protection, customer care, and data governance. Most importantly, strict compliance with the regulatory frameworks of both the domestic and destination markets remains a fundamental prerequisite.

This marks the first synchronized end-to-end service framework linking four pivotal pillars across the enterprise export journey:

- CONTROL: Risk management advisory, loss hazard assessment for cargo; guidance on international transit insurance; claims handling, documentation, and settlement support.
- COMPLY: Standards and technical requirement advisory for import markets; readiness assessment; compliance training; inspection, testing, and certification services.
- CARRY: Shipping route and mode consulting, packaging, handover management by market and commodity groups; logistics cost optimisation; transit issue resolution.
Through a single point of contact, enterprises gain seamless access to comprehensive support, eliminating the friction of coordinating with multiple fragmented stakeholders. The initiative is designed to empower businesses to expand their online exports proactively, securely, and sustainably.
